Am I the only one who enjoy's the lecture portion of classes better than the lab? I'm taking GenChemII and BioI along with the respective labs and I always find that the lab moves so fast that I am wondering sometimes what I am doing! Anybody else have this problem?

Labs were always way more work than lecture. I hate having to keep up a lab notebook 🙁

Yeah, the lab notebooks were painfully boring.

I enjoy lab alot more than lecture, its the only time you get to talk to your classmates. Its especially fun when you have hotties in there. 😀 😀

I hated chem labs... I felt like a chicken running around with its head cut off

I'm taking o-chem lab II this semester after taking the first lab at a different institution three years ago. Yea. It sucks.

I like the lecture portions better too lol

It depends. chemistry lab sucks, bio is better.

I loved my anatomy and micro labs, but I hated my general chem ones.. orgo chem labs weren't as bad.... but general bio was so painful because it was soooo boring!

hte problem with gen chem labs are the fact that you know nothing about whats going on.. and you really don't understand what is going on until you take higher level classes in chemistry.. i think it applies less to organic and biochem lab.

but i still say that labs were sometimes pointless.. the lab reports took forever and never were satifactory i did learn alot at times though

Exactly. I was so lost during my first gen chem lab. I didn't know what I was doing!

i learned very little from any of my chemistry labs. luckily i won't have to take the biochem lab as a required course.

The point of first-year chem labs are to familiarize you with the equipment, and how to use it, moreso than to teach you about the reaction. Every orgo-chem lab I did had basically the same steps in them, so we repeated them over and over again.

Well, it's a first year course... they don't expect you to know much. I slept through the lecture part, so I agree with the OP's statement that lectures were more enjoyable... Labs will suck until the senior years unfortunately. If you can't handle the pace, there's always your TA to bail you out. And yes, lab notebooks suck!

I enjoyed my chem. labs but micro lab is the best

i HATE chemistry labs, but i loved organic two lecture...well not loved, but it was interesting.
micro was the only lab i liked...lecture is usually always better

For me the labs are the best part. However, I am glad to find out that I am not the only one who runs around with what seems to be no idea of whats going on.

I like the labs because I actually get to do something, instead of just sitting there amongst a hundred other people wondering what the hell is going on.

I just started ochem I and in addition to the lab notebooks, we have to write up a formal report for each lab. I am totally not looking forward to that...ohwell.

Have a good weekend everyone!

well get used to dealing with the rigors of class because dental schools isn't any easier.

I may be asking this question in the wrong forum, but in D-school are the labs as confusing?
