Chill. You are a youngster.

I started med school at 38. Now at 43 I'm PGY 2. Plan is to proceed to trauma after I finish. Trauma is not a difficult match - in fact it's not that hard to get a trauma fellowship, as most people hate it.

The only person who cared about my age was one very malignant attending at my med school. Otherwise, on the interview trail, I was asked maybe a total of 3 times how I'd feel about taking orders from people younger than me. But that question usually came up as the interview time was winding down and the interviewer was running out of questions to ask me.

I don't think I'm being treated differently becuase of my age.

Your credentials and performance will matter much more than your age.

I am entering med school at 32 and will be 36 when i graduate..OVer the course of the last ten years i have developed a strong interest in surgery...I was wondering whether entering a surgery residency at age 36 was problematic....And if so what are some problems i may encounter?

Hi there,
You will encounter the same problems entering surgery residency at age 36 that you encounter entering surgery residency at age 25.
