Hi everyone,
I have an interesting dilemma on my end. I took a year off to do radiology-related research after third year bc at the time I thought I was most likely going to do radiology. Now I realize my passion is medicine and I def want to to an IM residency and am applying this cycle. But everyone thinks that I'm applying for rads based on my research year. When I met w my medicine adviser today, even he thought I was applying for rads and wanted advice only for prelim! Now I'm starting to freak out a little since what if programs think so as well? Unfortunately nowadays many rads applicants apply for IM as a "backup" specialty. What I can do so that programs will not suspect this of me, bc I really love medicine and don't want my chances to be ruined bc of my research year. Or am I just worrying too much and going crazy?
Thanks so much!!!
