The AMA/ASTRO internship sounds great!
Similarly, I was wondering how receptive rad onc residency programs are to other experiences in oncology or radiation oncology such as volunteering in my capacity as a medical student at summer camps for kids with cancer? Or other policy work on the state level dealing with public health/public policy in cancer care and radiation oncology?
Basically, if I already have some research under my belt, is it worth it to branch out and take advantage of these other opportunities I'm interested in and would they do anything for my application? Or, strictly from an admissions point of view, is it more beneficial to continue to pursue radiation oncology research if I have that lined up for the summer anyways?
