So I just got out of work from swing shift and I got an order for AmBisome 200 mg infuse over 24 hrs? I couldn't get a hold of the doctor and the nurses were freaking out over the 24 hr thing too so I just changed it back to it's regular infusion for 2 hrs. Has anyone ever seen AmBisome given over 24 hrs? I have talk to other pharmacist and they have never seen such a thing because it would require the nurses to shake it every 2 hours. I have seen research for the Amphotericin B (Fungizone) given over 24 hrs but none for AmBisome. Just wondering if anyone has info on Ambisome given over 24 hrs. Thanks.

I have not seen that - but is it even stable for 24 hours?

It is stable 24 hours in refrigerator and around 8-10 hours at RT after reconstitution. To the OP: I guess he meant to give 200mg Q24h. I have never seen continuous infusion of Ambisome either (except for irrigation at a lower dose 50mg)....but who knows...
