Is it still beneficial to get AMCAS in early if you are taking the august MCAT? Also, do you recieve Secondaries before the August MCAT scores are in?

Thanks!

To your first question, yes, it is beneficial to get your AMCAS app in early. It will allow time for AMCAS to process your transcripts, etc. so that when your scores come in, your file will be complete. And to the second question, no, no schools that I know of send secondary applications until they receive your primary.

1. Yes
2. Yes....I did last year

It is absolutely beneficial to get AMCAS in as soon as you can; sometimes it takes them forever to verify your transcripts. When I was applying to schools, I found that some schools did send secondaries even before my August MCAT scores were available (this is especially true of schools that don't screen before they offer secondaries). Since so many med schools are on rolling admissions, earlier is often better.
