Hi, I know there’s nothing I can change now but I noticed a mistake and I’m scared it’s going to discredit my entire application. For my activity description for ophthalmic technician we often see medically underserved patients. Instead of writing “patients often face barriers such as x, y, and lack of adequate insurance” I said “patients often face barriers such as x, y, and lack of insurance” Patients usually do have insurance but it’s either public insurance like Medicaid and sometimes it doesn’t cover or takes a long time to cover a certain procedure. I don’t know how major this mistake is and if I should inform all the schools. Thank you.

Nobody will think that sentence is inaccurate so please don't sweat it.
Thank you. It’s a private practice serving underserved communities and I’m getting a LOR from the doctor that’s why I was concerned.

if you really want to understand what insurance covers and doesn't cover, see if you can spend some time with one of the billing supervisors at the eye clinic while you still work there. You might be very surprised to learn that Medicare and Medicaid, though they might take longer to process claims, can end up covering more of the expenses than private insurers which glean some of their profits by denying claims or paying less than the accepted Medicare rate.

I will definitely go ahead and do that

I am no adcom or physician (so please listen to their advice over mine), but I honestly had to re-read that several times to understand what was actually different.

Ah ok. Yea I was afraid of being misleading by saying we treat uninsured patients. Although sometimes the insurance doesn’t cover what they need.
