For the AMCAS, when you are selecting the schools for submission of the primary, you are asked what type of program you will be applying for, generally: MD or MD/Ph.D.

For a few schools, I am interested in applying for both MD and MD/Ph.D. Is there a way to check off both options? Similarly, I know that certain MD/Ph.D applications are just included in the supplementals for the regular MD programs. So, for these schools, is it just a question of checking off solely the MD option?

Especially in context to the last part, how important is checking off these boxes in the first place? For example, if you just check off MD/Ph.D for a school, will you not at all get the regular MD application?

Thanks!

With AMCAS you can only choose one program per school. If you choose a combined degree program, it is up to the school to determine how they will handle your application. Most will evaluate your application for the combined degree program and if you don't make the cut there, they will include your application in the general MD applicant pool.
