Alright, so the AMCAS official instructions claim that "It is not necessary to repeat information reported elsewhere on your application."

However, it also says that applicants are REQUIRED to "provide an essay that describes your significant research experiences" of up to 10,000 characters. In addition, designating an activity as "Most Meaningful" gives you ~1300 extra characters in the typically 700 character slots in the Work/Activities Section.

1) How can you NOT possibly repeat some of the information if you've designated research as one of your Most Meaningful activities?

2) Since I'm having trouble determining which of my top activities (research, clinical volunteering, and 2 non-medical activities) I should label as "Most Meaningful", should I simply take out research and use the extra characters for another activity? Or would that look inconsistent with the whole essay?

3) Have I redefined what it means to be neurotic?

And seriously, why the hell is the research essay given almost double the characters of the PS when you're expected to address way more through the PS??!?! Aggr.

1. You are not required, nor is it necessary to repeat the information. Will you? Almost certainly.

2. Do whatever you think paints the best picture of you. If you think one should be most meaningful over another because you already talked about it, I would probably agree with that.

3. You most certainly have.

As for #3 BABS, can I list that as another Activity/ Acheivment? 😉
