So I know that the first day to apply is June 1st correct? I have some questions in regards to how it works. I am not taking mcat untill mid summer, but I think I have read that I should still start the application and send it even though I would not have taken mcat yet? IM really confused and need someone to kind of walk me through it. Also, should I be getting transcripts right now from my schools and having them sent somewhere? I am still taking my last pre reqs this semester at 1 school but have 2 other schools I have gone to in the past. All my letters of recs have already been sent to interfolio as well. If anyone can help that would be great, thanks in advance!

on one of the essay questions on the application for amcas I believe it asks something like why do you want to become a physician. Now is this the same as my personal statement? Can I literally just copy and paste my ps on here word for word? Or should this be something entirely diffferent? please help

The only essay on the primary application is for the PS. Are you looking at secondaries from specific schools?

BTW, never a good a idea to copy your PS to a secondary essay

The AMCAS primary application is different for this cycle and includes more essays than just the PS.

And yes, don't copy your PS to any follow on essay assignments that come up in secondary apps.

Just checked out the new AMCAS changes, looks fairly substantial, but didn't see any mention of additional essays. Are there additional essays for the primary now?

Yes. You have to break out your top three EC's and elaborate on the rationale of them being your "most" important experiences and describe their importance in more detail.

Here's a great thread with more info/detail:

Yea Pons, earn that green plus sign!!!

P.S. thank you for the great links 🙂

this is excatly what it states under the essay(s) tab: Use the space provided to explain why you want to go to medical school. The available space for your response is 5300 characters, or approximately one full page. You will receive an error message if you exceed the available space. For additional assistance, click "help" on the tool bar at the top of the screen. *

I just want to make sure I am doing this correctly. This is still for the primary application on amcas. So this is where I would put my "personal statement" correct? I already have it written, so I can simply just copy and paste it. Sorry if this answer is obvious I just want to make sure I make no mistakes. Also thank you for the advice, once I start receiving secondaries I will make sure to not use my exact personal statement for anything anymore.

One more question guys..you guys have been much help btw thanks. So I am not taking my mcat until mid summer, but I have already finished entering data for my app on amcas. Can and should I send my transcripts/LOR there already? I wont get my final grades from this semester until mid june so should I just wait until then? If I can msg someone who is willing to help me a little more I would also appreciate it thanks!
