AMCAS Application Sent Back and Why?

Just wanted to see if there was anyone out there with their applications sent back in the past, and why. I know I'm going to be iffy with classifications for Neurobio courses and research listed under the psych department, but wanted to see what others had to say in an independent thread.

Changes in course classification are not cause for returning the app to you. They'll just change the classification if they feel like it's not correct. I believe you're allowed up to 10 errors before they return it to you.

I listed all of my neuroscience courses as Bio courses even though they had Psych prefixes and research methods/stats classes taken in the Psych department as Math and none of them were changed by AMCAS. They only made wierd changes like switching Music History I&II from Arts to History. AACOMAS however switched all of my neuroscience courses and methods/stats courses to Psych.

Don't worry bro. A lot of applicants are paranoid about having their app sent back, including me, but it almost always won't happen. Even on the off chance that it does, once you send it back you go right back to where you were in line so it's not like you have to start over.

You should contact AACOMAs about the psych stats because in their course classification they count behavioral statistics as a math course.

I thought about it but don't know if its worth the hassle beings the stats class won't change my sGPA at all and there were only four neuro classes (2As and 2Bs) that were switched - not sure how that'll impact my sGPA but regardless it will be minimal. The weird thing is that of the three stats courses Research Methods I and Experimental Methods were left as math and Research Methods II was switched from math to behavioral science.

That being the case, it is advisable to classify some science classes under BCPM even if they are not listed with the appropriate call numbers? For instance, I took two metabolism classes that were listed as nutrition, but they were essentially biochemistry. Keep it under "HEAL" or move it over to "CHEM"?

If you really feel it was more hard science then list it as the appropriate science. One of my neuro courses that I listed as Bio was in the psych department and called "Sensation and Perception" - AMCAS left it as Bio. If it gets changed and you still feel it should be science contact them for an appeal.
