So I decided to go ahead and submit my AMCAS application when i found that my MCAT was a 36 (which I'm pleased with.) But now I'm worried. AMCAS suposedly takes 4-6 weeks to verify transcripts and foward your application to the schools you indicate. That woud put me past the Nov 15th deadline most schools have. Since some schools will not send you their secondary applications until they have your verified primary, I may be screwed.

I'm hoping I'm wrong about the 4-6 weeks thing... am I?

the deadline is to submit your amcas not for them to forward it to schools. make sure your transcripts are in and lors are ready to go. don't apply to schools that have seconday deadlines soon because you might not get secondaries in time. and i'd advise you to find links to secondaries and start working on them NOW. nice mcat 🙂
good luck

Thanks! The part about not getting secondaries in time is what I am worried about. I recieved one from Dartmouth and have started the online secondaries from yale, columbia, and hopkins, but my #1 waits until they get my verified application from AMCAS.. Does anyone know from experience how long AMCAS processing really takes?

It really depends on two things: 1. Whether or not your AMCAS had all of your transcripts when you submitted and 2. Volume of applications received around the time yours was received.

I had all of my transcripts in to AMCAS long before I submitted my application, and they took less than a week to verify it. If you have not submitted your transcript, then who knows when AMCAS will get to it. As I understand it, simply submitting it does not put your application in line to be verified unless they have already received your transcript. When they have everything, your application then goes to the bottom of the "to be verified" pile.

And yet we greet another confounding factor. AMCAS had my transcripts and didn't realize it. My status was "on hold" at first, until I called them and alerted them to this fact and they fixed it two days later...
