Does anyone know if you can come back from withdrawing your application? My stupid frat brothers/"friends" thought I was spending too much time on my application and not with them so they hacked my account (stole my password) and withdrew it as a joke. They (and I) didn't realize that it's really final and they don't let you come back from it.

I sent out emails where I'm basically crying asking for them to not take the withdraw, but it's the 4th and they don't respond. Does anyone have any experience with this? Am I really gonna have to wait for the next application cycle...

Is the withdraw option even available right now??

It definitely says that once you withdraw, it is 100% final.
Call AMCAS tomorrow and PLEAD with them. Tell them someone hacked your computer and see what they will say.

EDIT: I just looked at AMCAS... are you verified?

Also, your frat brothers are douchebags. Seriously. Get some new friends. They may have just cost you this application cycle.

Hopefully not. Otherwise, I sense ass-kickings.

Good luck.

Worst. Friends. Ever.

This is honestly the saddest thing I've seen on this site.

I really hope it works out for you. Contact AMCAS first thing tomorrow.

What an un-funny joke...

Withdrawing your application is FINAL. Once you do so, you can no longer apply for the current application year. If you need to withdraw your application from consideration after your AMCAS application has been processed you will need to contact the medical schools directly.

So it depends on whether your app was transmitted or not.

You should report it to campus PD, then tell AMCAS you have a police report about the incident describing someone except you withdrawing.
That may have some weight. Short of that, you may just look like someone with second thoughts who does not merit an un-withdraw. And the shoe is on the other foot, so to speak, re your friends.
Good luck.

I agree with this. Who cares if you bury your friends. THEY REALLY EFFED UP HERE.

+1 fck em

I wouldn't want to be a re-applicant, miss out on a years worth of physician salary, and take a gap year all over some stupid sh** like that.

Tell your friends that if you can't submit an app now until next season that they just cost you $150k-300k+ in lost income from a year of lost wages.

Yep, they took it upon themselves to rob you of $150k-300k+ in order to allow you to down a couple shytty beers and talk about frivolous frat crap.

If you haven't thought of it in that light yet, it should piss you off quite nicely.

Call AMCAS and beg like your entire next year depends on it.

i'm typically all about being loyal to your friends but considering that they showed absolutely no loyalty to you in this case, do what you gotta do. who cares if you screw em good, they obviously didn't care about screwin you.

I'm almost certain you will have to at least file a report, if not press charges in order for AMCAS to do anything, as with most/all other identity theft/hacking crimes.

Sorry to hear that you have ****ty brothers. To be honest though, this is why you should put a password on your computer and not save any passwords on internet browsers. I doubt they "stole" your password from your mind lmao

you could file a law suit as well!

Okay so slightly in contrary to what some of the other people have said, I wouldn't completely kill your brothers just yet because if they just went on your comp and you had your password saved or something, it will be pretty much impossible to prove that they hacked it without their own confessions, so don't be so quick to try to screw them over until you are absolutely sure you don't need them anymore...

OK fine... not all frats are horrible. But this guys brothers really did him in.

Either way, it's his word against theirs. If he can prove he was somewhere else at the time the application was withdrawn. Then problem solved. Someone else did it.

Lesson learned: do not save your passwords. no matter what.

Not all frats are douchey, just like how not all pre-meds are gunners 😉

I hope OP got things resolved and is not on a killing spree.

I wouldn't blame him if he got things resolved and still went on a killing spree. Who else has that kind of entitlement that they can just go and withdraw your medical school application?! Only in frats...

dude... you might end up being a re-applicant bc of this. seriously, this is so messed up. best of luck.......

I don't think he will. You can only withdraw your app prior to verification. And you have to be verified in order to mark yes to the "have you ever applied to this school before?" question

I think the amount of difference in suck that this fact makes is almost negligible, but you are correct.

See if you can login to "Start 2012 AMCAS." If you can't, then it's final (unless you can plead with AMCAS to get it reinstated.)

"Withdrawing your application is FINAL. Once you do so, you can no longer apply for the current application year.
To withdraw your AMCAS application from consideration you must do so online by selecting withdraw application from the right side of the [FONT=Arial,Arial][FONT=Arial,Arial]Main Menu. ..This option is only available after submission when your application is in one of the following statuses: "Submitted to AMCAS – Ready for Review," "Submitted to AMCAS – Waiting for Transcripts," or "Returned." You cannot withdraw your application in the following
statuses: "Submitted to AMCAS – Under Review" or "AMCAS Processing Complete."

Man, I hate frats.

Because you didn't get a bid? hah

- Also Vandypremed, I'd assume you were in one with your 3.2 gpa - lol hope you also applied caribbean

But also, OP that doesn't sound like a real story. I bet you withdrew it and realize now it was a mistake. It clearly states that this is final when you click it.

Wow what a jerk move. This is why I don't join frats at my school(not that any of them actually interest me) but I would plead with them.. call them saying that your computer was hacked and make one of the frat brothers fess up to it. It's all fun n games until something serious like this happens

Having lived with my share of unbelievable roommates I can assure you things like this (and much worse) do happen...

You don't like beer, parties, and a plethora of girls?

You don't like beer, parties, and a plethora of girls?

You mean warm Natty Ice served from a dirty Polo cup? A hundred people crowded into a dilapidated fire hazard of a 'house' and tolerating 'party music' (repetitive bass with AutoTune overuse) for hours on end? Or clamoring your way through the sausage-fest that is a frat party for the dozen half-decent girls who make the unfortunate mistake of showing up? Sounds like a ball!

Sue them for massive amounts of money. Now you can casually apply next cycle knowing you have enough for tuition, comfortable living, and then some. Find a good lawyer.

This is true. I'm Greek and I haven't been to a frat party since my freshman year. They lose their touch once you start getting real friends who have apartments and an actual drink selection. But I do miss trashcan punch...

Yes.. Finding a lawyer to take your case won't be hard at all.. We all know how much extra cash those college kids have that is just ripe for the suing.. 🙄

Not a troll, just a person who found out the hard way that two misplaced clicks cost you the app.

I'm thinking, for some reason, that the OP may actually be telling the truth...
