I'm taking the MCAT in 2013 and applying that same year. Is there any way to get a head start on filling out all the info for the AMCAS application? I saw "2013 AMCAS Sign In" link and started filling out some information, but that sounds like a mistake since that year is for the 2013 entering class. Someone please clarify.

My second question is about FAP. Is there any downside to doing the paperwork for this? I don't know if I would be eligible or not, so I filled it out, I just haven't sent in the tax papers yet. Before I do, is there any potentional harm in this? I've already paid for the MCAT test if it matters.

I think the AMCAS opens in May, when you could start filling it out. There is no downside to doing the FAP

Right, you can't start working on the 2014 Application until May 2013. You can submit it in June.

There's no real point to doing the 2012 FAP application anymore since you've already registered for the MCAT. You're supposed to fill out the FAP app before you register so you can get the discounted MCAT fee.

What you should do is wait for the 2013 FAP application so you can get financial assistant on your AMCAS application.

Would they offer a partial refund if I was eligible for FAP?

Can I submit my application or register for a testing date before I receive my FAP decision?

No. There are no retroactive benefits, so you must wait until your FAP decision has been made before registering for the MCAT or submitting an AMCAS application. If you pay any MCAT or AMCAS fees prior to receiving your award you will not receive a refund.
