Hi,

I just discovered that how to view the courses reported after verification by amcas (you go to view printable version). And I also discovered my gpa has decreased

Anyway, i discovered amcas changed it from something correct to something incorrect! (actually it doesn't suprise me, knowing amcas).

Anyway, I took a four unit course with lab and got a B-. They changed it to 4 units of B- for lecture and 4 u nits of B- for lab, thus dropping my non-science gpa (it was engineering, thus non-science).

so, what do I do? Besides being thouroughly sure that's what caused the gpa change.
They also put several X's in places that look correct... when I get home i'll compare it against my saved version to see what else they changed.

thanks,
sonya

yeah amcas changes my grades too..but basically assigned them the wrong translations (I am in an Honors / Fail system) and they used the wrong conversions...

I submitted a note through the AMCAS page (go to the certidy button i think) and you can submit the note to them online.

if you call them they wont do anything..they need the change request via the internet.

it will take 15 days for them to respond with your case and thier remedy

hi,

ok, thanks. In the next 15 days, a ton of secondaries will be turned in... should I add notes with them too? Or will AMCAS eventually get it sent to them. It's not that big difference.

no note is needed (at least that is what amcas phone help told me)

all they do is update your app and RESEND it to the schools.
i think the schools automatically keep the new one and discard the old one.

in theory this is how it works.....

I think you should report it, but stay relaxed. In general, AMCAS staff try to standardize transcripts. For example, schools which uses A+'s need to be adjusted to a normal 4.0 grade system. The mathematics behind their calculations are fairly simple, so there is not much opportunity for errors.

If you have read through the online pamphlet amcas provides and are confident that there is an error, it would be appropriate to email them. No need to stress though, since minor transcript adjustments will rarely affect your eligibility for medical school admissions.
