So, my application was just verified today (finally) but they made some changes to my coursework that concern me:

I studied abroad my 1st semester in college. Strange, I know, but since I very explicitly indicated this it should have been ok. But, alas, they changed the classification of all my study abroad coursework to AP. I called AMCAS they said it didn't really matter but if I wanted I could submit an academic change request.

I have some concerns either way:
if I submit the change request and it takes a few days does this hold up my app? The rep said it wouldn't and that schools would just receive an update but I am skeptical.

if I decide to leave it, and not submit the change request is that bad? Will schools care/be confused/be irritated?

I'm just looking for some advice from someone with some knowledge of this stressful process.

Thanks!

They made a lot of mistakes on mine too. It takes them only a couple of days to fix it, though. You probably won't be done with secondaries by then anyways. I don't think you should have any problems and I am sure, the schools don't mind since they probably deal with it pretty regularly.

So you think it is better to make the corrections?

Surprisingly, the OP did also post his question in the correct thread.

Oh well.
yes I (i'm a she) posted it there after I posted it here but didn't get a lot of response. I know I should probably change it just for accuracy sake but the amcas rep I spoke to was a bit rude in telling me that even if I request the change it might not happen. That of course would make no sense but that seems to me the way things roll around there sometimes.

yep that's how it is. I am a bit dubious about the verifiers qualifications too. But there is no harm in trying.

You received what I thought were useful responses on the main AMCAS thread, and before you received any on this thread. But setting that aside, have your questions been answered to your satisfaction?

yes I did. I actually created this thread first before I saw that there was a specific thread for this. When I saw that there had been response here though I came back to check it out, hence our correspondence 🙂

My questions have more or less been answered-- I guess I am just irritated about having to go out of my way to correct their mistakes and concerned about the possible (albeit unlikely) ramifications of this mistake.

It's a daunting process overall and it'd be nice if it could go smoothly but I guess we don't always have that luxury.

So it appears that the consensus is to submit the changes as it will not hold up my already processed app nor will it bother adcoms...right?

Welcome to the real world! Nobody's perfect. 🙂

Yes. Either way, you're fine. Might as well do your due diligence to make sure your app is as accurate as possible. Even if your change request gets denied...it won't affect consideration of your app.

OK! Thanks much.
