Would a course taken through a summer university program in high school, over the summer, be counted in AMCAS. I did a program at a top 10 university where I took two undergraduate level courses as a sophomore in high school. I didnt do so well, and it was more of a learning experience. I'm getting paranoid that I might have to report these to AMCAS and have them be in my AMCAS GPA. Is that true?

If you took it at the university, you will most likely have to report the grades.

Yes, you have to report them as well as submit the transcript from that university.

It's only 2 courses and adcoms will see that you took them in high school. I wouldn't worry about it.

really? this is actually an App killer. they were two science courses and i receive C+ in both. would they know if i dont submit the transcipt? Since i didnt get any transfer credit or even mention them to the university i attend for undergrad

Yes, you have to report the classes and they will know (Because of the national clearing house). Two C+'s will not kill your application, however dishonesty and attempting to hide these grades will.

Trust me, 2 C+'s from when you were in high school is not an app killer. We see much more than just your overall GPA.

It drops my cGPA from a 3.65 to a 3.5 and sGPA from a 3.55 to a 3.45. Id say its pretty drastic :/ Do most adcoms actually look at the broken down GPA in terms of when courses were taken. or is it just the one number. This is really devastating considering how hard ive worked in undergrad to bring my GPA up from a shaky first semester

A couple of C+'s won't kill your app, don't sweat it. Plenty of people get accepted with a few C's. I should know, I'm one of those people. Don't be so neurotic.

We see your GPA broken down by year. So your first year GPA will be low, but if you have an upward trend it should be fine. There's really not much you can do about it, unless you apply DO and retake those classes for grade replacement.

You'll have to include them. I feel your pain though, I had like 20 credits worth of a 3.0 from HS, which did sink my GPA a bit. Regardless I've been doing fine this cycle.

I think inclusion of college grades during HS is completely unnecessary and I don't know why AMCAS has this rule. People are completely different in HS than they are in college, and they aren't necessarily thinking about doing super well in their courses like the typical pre-med in college is.

exactly! It makes absolutely no sense to me why two courses I took (to gain exposure to the subject matter) at a well known research university in the 10th grade should count towards my BCPM. Its great to know that you are doing well tho! Do you mind revealing your stats? I'm curious to know because without these grades my GPA is respectable with admissions but with this, my BCPM sinks tremendously.

I really hope adcoms, in your case and mine, are look at the grade breakdown and putting less or no consideration on the high school courses.

I agree that it sucks, but you do have to submit them. It's really easy for AMCAS to verify this.

I'm in a similar boat. Got bored in high school, limited elective courses, so I piled up on classes at local community college. I had like 28 college credits under my belt when I officially started undergrad, calc, physics, psych, etc. But I didn't have plans to go to med school or anything and it was my senior year so I didn't go crazy pushing myself.

Gotta love hindsight....

It's okay, when I discovered that they would count I was very annoyed as well. But you have time to keep raising your grades, so just keep getting those As. Plus they do separate the HS grades in amcas even if they go in the overall GPA. So it is displayed like: HS, Freshman, Sophomore, Junior etc., so adcoms will see them as HS grades.

You can look at my MDapps profile to see approx. stats and stuff.
