Please help! I am planning to apply to medical schools this fall for admission in 2007. I have a undergraduate degree from a foreign university where I did English, Chemistry and Physics prereqs. Although my grades there were good, they were given in terms of absolute marks out of 100. GPA calculation thus would be hard.

After reading AMCAS help and other threads, I am quite confused as to how to present my undergraduate grades for some of the courses there to be considered for prereqs for allo med schools. If anyone has experience with this, please share.

You should read through the AMCAS documentation (available on the AMCAS website, possibly elsewhere on the AAMC site). They have a policy for situations like yours, which occasionally exist even within the U.S. I can't remember exactly what it is; it has to do with getting a third party translation of your marks into letter grades and showing proof of its validity to the AAMC.

Thank you, Blee. I called up AAMCS. They do not accept independent evaluations. Their advice is to (a) Fill up the coursework as independent attendance. (b) Talk directly to universities as each university is a little different.

Following up individually with each university might be a time consuming and costly. But I guess there is not much choice...

I then did M.S. in computer science from a US university where I scored well. Subsequently, I worked in computer software area for several years.

After reading AMCAS help and other threads, I am quite confused as to how to present my undergraduate grades for some of the courses there to be considered for prereqs for allo med schools. If anyone has experience with this, please share.
