I am wondering how disadvantage status works for AMCAS. Will school notify us that we qualify for disadvantaged status? What happens after we submit the app with self-claimed disadvantages?

Is it useful to indicate ourselves as EE1 or EE2 in the statement? also if we're recipient for FAP?

How it's read and used for consideration of your app varies on a school-by-school basis. The school won't notify you.

Don't indicate EE1 or EE2, it's determined from your parents' SES you listed. Don't bring up FAP unless it's relevant.

I hope that helps!

Thanks! I am just curious how much the disadvantaged statement would help for someone who's not a URM but had significant challenges eligible for this status.

It depends on who's reading the app, but I've heard it generally isn't as helpful as being URM, a veteran etc.
