In my application, apostrophes and quotation marks ended up as square boxes (Windows XP). I know I should've copied into Notepad but I thought Wordpad was the same thing. Can this hurt my application? It's not like anything else is unreadable but...

was this your PS or your post secondary experiences? Big difference. Also, if its just one error, i'm sure it'll be overlooked.
 
Both. All incidences where apostrophes and quotation marks are used.
 
I heard from a friend that when he asked an admissions person about this mistake the admissions woman said its kinda bad b/c it shows that you do not know how to follow directions, but on the other hand screw her. People make mstakes its understandable

Dude. They get the message and know what you meant. If they're going to reject you because the apostrophies and quotations are little boxes instead of their rightful typographic personalities--do you really want to be there? Now if you've got many typos...that's not good.
