Okay, I just printed out my AMCAS essay to proofread it, and it shows every apostrophe and hyphen (' and -) as being replaced with a question mark? What is going on?? We have to be able to use those characters, they're so common. I don't know what to do, if they really do show up as a ? then I am screwed. I don't know how to reword everything to take those out.

Is this some weird thing going on with my computer or did no one use any apostrophes or hyphens? 😱

Did you type directly into the box or you copied and pasted?

if you typed in a word processor, by default, it formats apostrophes, quotation marks, and dashes as something prettier. so if you copy paste, it shows up funny. no big worry. just go back and correct the errors IN the amcas app, not in your word processor.
