AMCAS FAP Question/What do you miss out on when you don’t apply traditionally through AMCAS?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

I’m in an early assurance program and will apply through a special program AMCAS application without any costs/application fees for the formal acceptance. I’m not sure I’d be able to apply to AMCAS FAP, which would mean that I might miss out later on a discount for residency applications that’s for those that got it for medical school admissions. Is there anything else similar to this that would be good to know about such as other discounts for study resources, med school costs, etc?

There's nothing similar as far as I know. Once you get into medical school, you are reliant on the discounts you get from them, AMSA/SNMA, other national organizations, etc. Often SDN offers some programs with discounts (such as PrivateFolio for letters), and if there are others you think might help you, let us know and we can see what we can do.

Thank you so much, this is good to know! Could I ask if you think it would still be possible for me to apply/get FAP through AMCAS?
