Hey how much does it cost (approximately) to apply to about 27 medical schools? Thanks!!
Unless they raise the price for the 2005 app cycle, it's a $150 base fee, plus $30 per school. So, 27x30... 810? Plus the 150, so you're looking at $960 for AMCAS.

It'll really hit you hard once you start sending secondaries back - on average between $50-$100 per school!

..and that's not counting plane fares, hotels, etc... for 20+ schools, TOTAL would be in the $2500-$3500 range..depends on how many interviews you're attending.

Yikes

I think you would be wise to shorten that list just a bit. With secondaries and travel you are looking at thousands of $$$$.

Yeah it will cost but remember that once you start getting interviews early in the process you should have one acceptance around early November. This will mean that you can be more selective about interviews or if you are in your top choice stop all together...

Well my stats are kinda low (3.1 GPA, 3.0sci, 32R MCAT) so I'm gonna apply early and maybe do GTown SMP, that's why I'm applying to so many schools.

Still, that's one heck of alot of schools. For similar reasons, I applied to a similar number last year and wish I'd limited it. I've gotten in at a few schools and am still a candidate at nearly all of them (withdrawing my application from most).

With your MCAT scores, your chances aren't all that terrible (as long as the rest of your application isn't too scary). The secondaries take days of work and are very nerve racking.

If you want to keep some level of sanity and avoid entering school with 10K in credit card debt, I'd shorten the list.

If somebody had said this to me a year ago, I probaby would've ignored them.

Actually the AMCAS fee will be $930 because the $150 base fee is for your first school and $30 for each additional one.

Oh good, that means he'll be able to get top Ramen, rather than the generic noodle soup that he'll have to eat every night when all his money goes to med school fees 😛
