So, I was doing a last read through of my personal statement, checking for typos, etc, and I noticed that in the text box, there were a few red squiggleys indicating misspellings (but they weren't actually misspelled, just words the spell check didn't recognize like underserved...that's a word, right?). So this means AMCAS got spell check, yeah??? It's about time!

Hopefully they got grammar check, too, huh?

I kill myself.

I just filled my amcas out and it didn't have spell check. Mabye you have a apple comp....they have spell check on everything typed.

Yeah, I think it's dependent upon the operating system you're using and/or the web browser. My AMCAS didn't have anything of the sort (it's a very good thing I looked over my primary before submitting it; I spelled "dissertation" as "dissertaion", among a few other grammatical foibles).

Eh...I think the OP might have Firefox or something with a spell-check add-on. I have the same thing. I`m sure AMCAS does not have spellcheck.

okay. question. Would it be really bad if I said Ms.K instead of Ms. K, or Dr.V instead of Dr. V....? I would like to do this because it would buy me seven characters, or one more word...and i want it!

I wouldn`t do that. If you really have that many words, you`re bound to have a few that can be deleted instead of sacrificing your grammar.

i found a typo today!!! i submitted on friday and went over it 3 million times. oh well. i said tutor in biology, physics, and chemsitry. :meanie: oh well. no point on worrying about it. hope no one holds that against me.

firefox has a built-in spellchecker. that's probably what the OP has.

and chicken little, don't scrimp on those spaces. that just looks weird. save on the spaces after period by doing one instead of two but that's about the only place to cut down.

Yep. And AMCAS shouldn't have spell check, IMO. You should actually have to be able to spell in order to be a physician. Call me crazy... 😀

thank you for that...that was definitely one of the funniest things i've heard in a while 😀

As other people said, firefox has a built-in spellchecker add-on. Just be careful and still use your own judgment becuase it gave me some suggestions that were wrong.
