I'm not sure if I'm calculating this right so i wanted to double-check on here. My amcas got verified earlier this week. I tried to calculate the GPA's myself but in almost all cases it doesnt match up with what they put. I went to a quarter school so I noticed they converted al my quarter hours to semester hours, which they then used to calculate the GPAs. I then took the semester hours number for each class and multiplied it by the grade for the class. After doing this for each class i added the products all together and then divided the final answer by the number of semester hours in that group of classes (whether AO or BCPM). After doing this, there is always a difference in the grade from what I got to what AMCAS put. Sometimes the credit hours for each school aren't even right. I'm wondering whether I'm just screwing this up somehow or whether I should do the academic change request thing. Any help would be appreciated!

Do you have any +'s in your grades? Keep in mind that AMCAS gives 3.3 for a B+ while it's 3.5 at most schools.

Well, if the school gives it a 3.5 AMCAS will also give it a 3.5.
The only real difference is that AMCAS always will count an A+ as an A, no matter what your undergrad gives it.

It shows that AMCAS will give you 3.3 for a B+. And it happened to me; my AMCAS GPA is slightly lower than my institution GPA because of that.

Look at the 3rd page. There are several different GPA assignments based on what your university does. You're only looking at the top one.
The back of the transcript will have the official designations anyway. AMCAS uses it to use the right key.

What I'm saying is that my school gives me 3.5 for a B+ but AMCAS gave me 3.3. So I was just thinking that it might have happened to the OP.
Thanks Wolverine Fan. It was weird, I calculated it all and for some reason the BCPM and AO GPA's for each year were slightly different from what AMCAS entered, but even with those differences, the overall BCPM and AO that I calculated were still the same as AMCAS's. So I guess it's all the same in the end anyways.
