I'm in my third year of International Studies and I haven't taken the requirements for dental school. Only 2 biology and 1 statistics where I earn A. I was hoping that when I graduate take the requirements in a post bac or DIY as a second degree seeker. The thing is that I have 3.8 GPA but I have an F and two W's in Algebra. I do have some B's but most of them are A's. This semester I took 18 crs and earn 4.00 which help me to upgrade my GPA. The problem is that I want to pursue a career in dentistry but I'm worried about this F and W's. I'm a very good student, but I always struggled with math. I know my case is not easy and I'm very sensitive about this.

I do have volunteer and shadowing experiences and part time jobs in the related field but reading other posts I didn't know that the AMCAS counts everything. Even if you retake courses. What would you do in my situation? why?

a) Complete my studies and then take the requirements as I planned.
b) Earn another Bachelors Degree in Biology because my problem is too terrible
c) is there another option?

please help!

The F's and W's in math won't hold you back if you have a 3.8 gpa. However, just keep in mind they will count any F grades even if you retook them. Also if you have any W/F grades they will also calculate this into your gpa. I would go with a traditional post bacc and just do well. GL

I really want to take upper level science classes to upgrade my science gpa. Because the harder sciences for me are going to be orgo and physics. But I'm really good in biology and good in general chemistry. But I guess it would help upper level sciences.

The problem with the post bac is the cost and that mostly only includes 8 courses. Beyond that you have to pay additional tuition and fees.

if you have a W on the transcript does that get factored into the GPA? I know Withdraw-fail is supposed to but my transcript just says a W

If you have a W/F (withdraw with failing) its counted as an F. A W is not factored in and is not a big deal. Taking upper level bio classes will give you an additional advantage.

Mines are just W too. The only ones factored are WF

AMCAS is the application service for medical schools. I think you meant AADSAS. Honestly, you're going to need to improve your algebra skills greatly, because I don't see how you can do well in physics without understanding fundamental algebra..
