So my AMCAS is pretty much finished. I'm applying to several medical schools, including a couple that are rolling admission, and others in which the deadline date is as early as October 1.

Basically...I want to send this thing yesterday.

Two problems though:

1. I have 24 hours of doctor shadowing experience, with 16 additional scheduled for mid August. My first thought was to just say I did the hours in July, send the app with the personal comments in past tense (obviously not a "most influential experience here"), make up the hours in the 6 week interim, and call it even. I even talked to the doctor I'm planning to shadow and he said it was fine with him. I don't want to lie on any part of this application, however, so I'd like to find a better way. Should I just run with 24 hours, or go ahead and list the hours as performed in July (it won't let me say that I did it in August) and reveal in my personal comment for the section that I PLAN to do the hours in August, or...what?

2. My school has a Premedical Advisory Committee that drafts a letter and sends it to the various schools with a recommendation. Some of the schools to which I apply require this, some don't mention it, some explicitly don't. The advisory committee won't be sending that letter until September or so anyway. If I send the application now and the school DOES require the PMAC letter, is there any point sending it early in the first place?

I know, I know, procrastination is bad, I went at this half-cocked and backward, all of that stuff. Any tips would be appreciated.

You answered your own question here. Don't lie. At this point, you should probably submit with 24 hours and then use the August hours for updates or on secondary questions. Also, lol at asking the doctor to go along with a lie on your application.

I would submit the regular hours and if anything use that extra shadowing time as a wedge for sending an update letter/ letter of intent etc.

Yeah, I actually realized that my first question was kind of already answered as soon as I posted it. Thanks for the advice with the letter of intent, etc, that's way better of an option.
