Is there any point or requirement to planning to enroll to a medical school before April 30th? My acceptance doesn't hinge on it right? Medical schools don't even seem to factor it in before that date when they can view the statuses of individual applicants

It probably would be courteous to select a “Plan to Enroll” school if you already have a top choice. I believe schools can tell how many have selected it for their school, but not who did so.

Yup, it's the nice thing to do. It allows medical schools to begin to anticipate needs and they may bring some people off the waitlist based on it. Granted, most will probably wait till it's definite and not risk over-accepting.
