I have a question I really need answered:

Does anyone know for a fact if AMCAS/Medical Schools do check the details of applicants' post-secondary experiences? (i.e., from the Contact Name and Title provided in the application?)

Don't worry, I haven't lied in my application, it's just that there are some experiences that I had trouble listing contact info. For some, the person was no longer involved, for others there was no clear contact person. And on one volunteer experience, I could not remember the exact month I started (it was 5 years ago).

Anyone have any knowledge of how much they scrutinize? I'd like to know before I submit my app.

Thanks!

I put in titles in place of names for a few. One person I listed had no idea who I was (nor did I know her) and I knew the most she could say was a very definitive "I don't know. Maybe he did volunteer for us."

I'd bet the schools have too much on their plates to fact checking - unless you've got something really outrageous (better delete "Paid Employment - Nonmilitary: Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court).

Thanks, that's what I was thinking too. Nothing too outrageous on my application. I doubt they're going to call the hospital I volunteered at just to make sure I did actually volunteer there. If so, they'd be calling lots, and lots, and lots, and lots of hospitals to check all their applicants. Besides, we don't give them phone numbers on the application so they'd have to spend even more time getting the numbers.

This application process sucks.

I left a few of the contact information spaces blank because I didn't know who to indicate. I figured they would either know how to contact the agency or they could ask me.

No one ever asked about it.
