Just some background: I am a rising senior at a major state university and I am almost ready to send in my primary application. I was hoping I could have some random questions about entering course work into it. These have really been slowing down my progress and I would love it someone could clear these up for me.

1) I took a class at a community college that is listed on my main university's transcript. Should I include that course under my courses for my main university, even though I have it listed already under the community college?

2) The AMCAS instructions say to list course names exactly as they appear on your transcript, but the names on the transcript are in all caps and another section in the AMCAS instructions says to not use all caps. So, should I enter my course names with caps (like they are on the transcript) or without (easier on the eyes)?

3) I've taken a few pass/fail courses where my grade on my transcript says CR, which stands for credit. Should I put CR in as the grade? And along these lines my independent research grade is 'S' for satisfactory on my transcript, should I just put it in like that?

4) For my AP classes, my transcript shows the course number for which I received credit (i.e. BIOL201), but doesn't have the actual course name. BIOL201 has a course name, however, so I am not sure how I need to put the course name in. AMCAS says if course name is not listed then put 'AP Credit: Biology', but in reality I got credit for a specific course, it's name is just not on the transcript.

5) And finally, I plan to take a class next semester that isn't on my transcript yet because the registration for classes is closed until August. Should I still put it under 'current/planned' or should I only enter the Fall 07 classes I am already registered for?

Thank you for any help on these. I know they are detailed/specific, but a few people I know have similar questions so any input would be truly appreciated.

1) but the course under which school you took it at regardless of transfer credits
2)caps don't matter in course name
3)I put S and they will either cahnge it to P or leave it but it won't cause any delay in the verifaction process
4)you can either follow what amcas says or you can write in the name of the course you received credit for even though there is no name on the transcript because you credit for a specific course number
5)I would put in because my didn't even have the classes i am reigstered for in the fall on it yet

1) I don't know.

2) I think they just mean the titles of the classes and such, so I'm sure you can get away without using all caps.

3) No harm in it. If they don't like it, they can change it.

4) Put the title of the class you got credit for.

5) Go ahead and put your future courses on. They don't worry too much about them anyway.

Always go by the university that contains the course. You can't cut corners this way and you'll waste your time during the verification process. Just look at all your transcripts from everywhere and make sure it matches as you should've sent them your transcripts ASAP from ALL colleges you attended.

2) The AMCAS instructions say to list course names exactly as they appear on your transcript, but the names on the transcript are in all caps and another section in the AMCAS instructions says to not use all caps. No they don't. 😛 The course number needs to match and so does the grade. The course title should be entered in a way that matches the title of the course. The course titles are for medical schools to know what you took. (I know this is true, I called 😛)
For clarity,
TRANSCRIPT says NEUROSC 102 CENTRL NERVOUS SSTM
I entered AMCAS: NEUROSC 102 Functional Anatomy of the Central Nervous System and Lab

3) I've taken a few pass/fail courses where my grade on my transcript says CR, which stands for credit. Should I put CR in as the grade? And along these lines my independent research grade is 'S' for satisfactory on my transcript, should I just put it in like that?

You should enter it as it is on the transcript. It is AMCAS's job to correct it. It will probably be changed to P/NP.

4) For my AP classes, my transcript shows the course number for which I received credit (i.e. BIOL201), but doesn't have the actual course name. I have no idea about this. I never listed my APs. I just received advanced standing, so I had to do the higher levels. I can't help you, really. 😛

5) And finally, I plan to take a class next semester that isn't on my transcript yet because the registration for classes is closed until August. Should I still put it under 'current/planned' or should I only enter the Fall 07 classes I am already registered for?

Hmm. This is interesting. No idea. I'd say list it, with current/planned, because they won't touch it during verification...AT ALL. 😛

1)
-I believe you enter courses taken at that particular institution, regardless of transfer.

2)
-I put mine all in caps, so I'd put it exactly as is. (avoid any confusion 🙂

3)

-I put CR for mine. Again, exactly as on the transcript. and I checked "Pass/Fail" as well.

4)

-not sure about this one

5)

-Yes
