amcas problem

ok. amcas is doing something weird. after i paste my personal statement in teh eassy section, the "character count" box shows 5288 (which is within the 5300 limit). however, when i exit and log back onto the essay section, it cut my personal statement off at 5228 characters. what is going on?

Save it as a text file and then paste it on again. This might solve the problem. It does weird things with word documents.

or copy and paste it from word into notepad.
then copy and paste from notepad into the amcas application.
