So, I put in my personal statement and it says the character count is 5297 (oh yeah, that close) and it will allow me to submit it and everything is there when it shows it to you in the non-typable area. The thing is, when I click edit, it says the character count is 5310. It still allows me to submit the whole thing and if I do edit it it goes back down to 5297, but it just seems weird to me.

I guess this isn't really a concern just a weird thing I noticed. Also, I'm not counting every character to see which is the actual number.

Copy and paste it into Word or some other similar program and do a character count to see how many characters you actually have. I'd bet on you having the 5297 since it will let you submit it.

I had this a long time ago, and I called AMCAS. Use the recommended web browser if you are not. It shouldn't make a difference, but for some reason it does.

Don't think it's a glitch..if you hit "Enter" to make paragraphs on your personal statement, I believe it counts as 2 characters in the web browser count.

In word it is 5287. So I'm not sure how it goes up to 5297.
