I recently lost my ATM card, so I've been checking my account online lately to make sure no one has made any unauthorized charges while the bank is canceling the card. So, what do I see when I log on tonight? The following:

I had AMCAS send out primaries to 6 schools, then another 11 a week later. AMCAS originally screwed up my GPA by including a P/F class that I did't pass in my BCPM. This made my GPA 0.2 points lower. I had to submit anyway because of deadlines. P/F classes shouldn't be included in GPA calculations, so after calling and e-mailing regularly for 3 months I wrote and faxed a letter to a supervisor, requesting a refund of my $630 minus the $75 non-refundable processing fee. Well, I guess AMCAS finally processed my request. Half of it anyway. I'm going to count my blessings and call it "good enough." Anyone else been as lucky with AMCAS?

Which supervisor did you write the letter to? The problems you encountered were NOTHING compared to the ones I experienced....I want my refund!

3 months of emails, faxes, and phone calls...and I recently found out that some schools still don't have their act together.

I wouldn't be quick to say your problems were any worse than mine. I was calling/emailing AMCAS so much that I had to keep call/email transcripts so I keep everything staight and get an accurate timeline of events. This record later paid off when I drafted my letter, because on paper, seeing how many times I provided them with an opportunity to contact me, they seemed totally inept. Plus, my call records show that the agents are completely ignorant of the whole process, because every time I called in I got a different response to my same problem. I wrote to Theresa Coleman. Also, whenever I got through to an AMCAS rep, I had them transfer me to her voicemail box. Incidentally, this was because she was never in the office (or hiding.) She left work early all the time. Despite the two voicemails I left with my contact information blatantly obvious, she never called me back like the reps said she would. So I eventually mailed a general letter to AMCAS and faxed one to their refund fax number. I sent the letter the first week in December, so it only took two months for a refund. Not bad, considering it took them three months to actually correct my GPA problem. Oh, yeah....I forgot to mention. They did finally fix my GPA about 2 weeks ago. That's why I was so surprised to find I got a refund. I figured they would do one or the other, but not both.

I WISH that the only problem that my application faced was a gpa drop..I'm tempted to post my specific issues here, but to do so in a public forum would completely eliminate my anonymity since only 1 or 2 applicants were unlucky enough to experience all of the problems that I encountered. I'm pming you with specifics.

I just discovered last night that I'm supposed to be bringing transcripts to my MCPH interview "due to the problems with AMCAS." Since I leave tonight, and just got back from Tulane yesterday, and my school is in CA, no way could I possibly do it. I'm having them sent (at guess whose expense!). Hope they'll still interview me. Also, Tufts has requested that I bring 2 copies of my AMCAS app with me to my interview. I wonder how they decided to interview me? I firmly believe that the only reason I got any interviews at all is that I threatened to sue AMCAS (had a lawyer write/fax/email them) if my verified app wasn't at all my schools by a certain date.

Tufts asks you to bring a copy of your AMCAS so that each interviewer has a copy available to him/her on the day of the interview. It's an interesting process--you'll see!

Hey smw don't worry about the transcripts, i didn't have mine and you have plenty of time in the 8-12 weeks it takes to review your file...I interviewed early dec (1st week) and am going under review this week....I had to have mine sent, which of course cost me another $6/schoolX4 schools gotta love why I paid amcas....

Warren just because I've been accepted doesn't mean that AMCAS didn't screw me over, and it doesn't mean that it didn't take me 4 months of HELL to try and straighten it out.

Would you be happy if you application was screwed up? Getting an acceptance has nothing to do with it.
