Okay, so I tried to search this topic up, but to little avail, so I'm going to post it here.
For those of you who don't know, the schedule for the AMCAS is as follows:
May 5
2012 AMCAS application opens
June 1 (at 9:30 a.m. ET)
Applications may be submitted
June 17
Data transferred to medical schools
Anyway, I did read earlier that if you are a non-trad, it's best to get your application submitted ASAP. So here's my question-How much of a deficit are you at, if you submit on June 1st, versus June 7th (one week later)? Technically, the data to med schools won't be transferred, but i guess the 16 days til the 17th is for verifying applications, right?
Now this I haven't searched a lot about, so bear with me, but that said, how long is the verification process this early in the cycle? Any experiences/thoughts?
I think the 6'ish extra days for me will be to make more revisions on the application, and to fill up all of my activities. The PS is ready to go, basically, and my 6 main activities are in, but now I'm having to do all the tedious work of seeing which less-important activites I want to include. I still have to decide if I want to fill up to 15, or save them the hassle of seeing "fluff" activities, like working in a production brain research lab for 3 months as a safety intern... (yes I did have to pull safety showers every week...the lab flooded once because my boss forget to install drains to the showers...and forgot to tell me the shower was broken before testing...REAL SMART GUY)
Sorry for sounding incredibly paranoid, but I figured if I'm going to take a year off to get my stuff together, I might as well do it once, and do it right.'
Thanks!
