So I submitted AMCAS and it has finally been verified. Everything's correct except for one grade edit they made. They kept the important stuff the same (grade, credit hours, etc.), except for the course title! They changed the title to ECONOMIC STATISTICS II, instead of the properly typed title "Economic Statistics II". They capitalized the entire course title.

In addition, the course title was originally ECON 203, but is now ECON203. So did they just screw stuff up? I know it's really really small stuff, but I'm always wondering if med schools see that and go "wha?" because they can't tell what AMCAS has changed can they?

How should I proceed, if at all?

Thanks ahead of time for your input!

 all my course names are like "INTR ORG CHEMII" and "EE BIOL LAB"

how should you proceed? well taking one of these would be a good start.

Seriously? Chill. So they made the whole name into caps. No big deal.

waste of my time for clicking on this thread. and then posting.

They would probably be more preoccupied with looking at your GPA, just guessing. :d

I had trannies from multiple colleges - for the ones that capitalized class names, I used caps - for the ones that didn't, I didn't...

You would be insane to submit a challenge for this.

Thanks! Just didn't know exactly how anal the process is. Now I know that adcoms are not really robots. ...or are they?!

Same here - it is an intentional double entendre...for grins.

it makes me 😀 i'm glad flip introduced this term into my life

FWIW, i 100% thought this thread was a joke at first. but it's not, apparently.

AMCAS wants your application to match your transcript exactly, this means they will change course titles and capitalization to match. It isn't a big deal. (but yes, the edits do show up on your app)

aw crap. All my courses had truncated, funky titles, so I wrote them out completely so med schools would know what classes I took. So you're saying I should have left them the way they were? Now my verifier has to go back and change them all? Oh well, looks like there may be a delay in my verification...

Hmmn, maybe that is why my verification is taking so long. I did spell out some course names on AMCAS because I thought the abbreviations were confusing. Plus, now that I think about it, my main transcript was in all caps. I changed that because all caps are harder to read and it is discouraged in most written communication. I submitted on 6/2 and it has been under review since 6/3!🙁

dude last year I put random names for my classes, did not number them and it didnt take them any extra time. They didn't change any of the names. They did, however, add a random AP credit (which my transcript said was revoked right underneath b/c I took the actual chem course).

You entered your grades in the order it appears in the transcript by the semester. You cannot have more than 10 courses per semester. Its not hard to ****ing match them, seriously. AMCAS is done by actual human beings. That means the biggest delay will be in the # of available workers that could process transcripts and verify.

As we move further into the season, it will take longer and longer to verify as they will need to spend more time entering/sorting transcripts and more time verifying the added number of apps.

chill

I remember looking at my transcript and deciding to take out some of the ridiculus abbreviations my school had come up with. Example: I changed Int Met (BCII) to Intermediate Metabolism (Biochemistry II), because I was convinced nobody would have a clue what the abbreviations meant. AMCAS left it alone. Maybe it depends on the particular person who looks at your app. Some may be more particular than others.
