AMCAS verification moving especially slow

Is it just me or did it just take AMCAS a whole week to get through less than a day of applications?

According to the Official AMCAS Verification Thread on 6/22 AMCAS verified apps submitted on 6/12 then on 6/29 they started (didn't finish) those apps submitted on 6/13

I seriously doubt this pace will continue, but it is certainly concerning. I looked at the Verification Graph from another thread and it certainly is not typical..............any thoughts.... or did I just misread something?

yeah not sure why this is. maybe they're being more thorough this year, or maybe they've just had a larger influx of early apps. either way I wouldn't sweat it, if they're slow with yours, they're slow with everyones

From what I've heard, there were more early applicants this year than last (when I applied). I submitted late June last year and it took about 4 weeks to verify, so don't be surprised if it takes awhile.

Check out the sign in page for amcas, they tell you which days they are reviewing. While they aren't quite moving forward by a day each day, its not much more than that. The amcas verification thread is useful but keep in mind its a tiny sample size.

I actually just crunched the numbers yesterday via excel, and it is moving a little slow.

That was 2010 and 2009.

Here is the data I found yesterday for this cycle (2012)

Day Submitted - Avg days for verification rounded to nearest day

1 - 4
2 - 10
3 - 13
4 - 13
5 - 15
6 - 11*
7 - 16*

This is a really small sample size.

Most of the people who submitted on day 6 and day 7 were not yet verified, or did not update their verification status, so their averages will go up considerably... by about 8-10 days.

So to answer your question... yes. They are moving much slower than last year according to my crude analysis. Applications submitted 6 days into the cycle were verified after about 1 week, where here the average is at least twice that, and may approach 3 times that depending on this next week.
