I'm about to submit my AMCAS application, but the year in school question for my courses has been bothering me. I began my first year of college with 24 AP credits, so after my freshman 1st (fall) semester I already have over 32 credits (39 to be exact). The AP credits were all entered together with my freshman 1st semester. If I go by year, I'll still be a freshman, but by credit I would be a sophmore. Should I list myself as a sophmore during my freshman 2nd (spring) semester? Thanks!

i don't think it matters that much... i had the same issue as you, with additional complications because i went to a school with a co-op program, so it was a 5-year undergrad program... so in addition to being a sophomore during my first year, i had "pre-junior" status during a portion of my time in college, which isn't even a choice on AMCAS... i say, just put down whatever you want, because i don't think anyone really cares....

After your application is processed, AP credits are not counted into your yearly credit load anyway. So just do what AAMC tells you to do.

I went by credits and put down senior level for some of the classes that I took the end of my "junior year" but they corrected to Junior. So I have no idea.

Just put down your best guess from the guidelines given. They'll change the classification if they don't like it and it's no biggie.
