When is the earliest in the application cycle that you can START filling out the actual AMCAS application and having your transcripts sent in, etc?

I searched the board but all I found was when you could SUBMIT it, which is June 1st, but I'm wondering when is the earliest I can register on the site and get everything out of the way so that all I have to do is just hit SUBMIT on June 1st and be done with it.

Thanks in advance!

If I remember correctly it's about a month before you can submit, May 1-ish.

I think it opens up in early May...and you can begin to work on your apps then!

Can you have your transcripts sent to AMCAS BEFORE the application opens up, since it takes 4-6 weeks for them to verify? If so, how soon before does one typically send them in (or what is deemed acceptable by AMCAS), in order to have a June 1st submission? Thanks!

Things change every year. Go to the AMCAS and AAMC websites for all the current dates and policies.

I can't find that information on the website..I've been through all the sections. I guess I will have to call them.

I think last year was like May 12th or something.

I think it opened up first or second week of May last year (2009). I want to say first week...

It doesn't take 4-6 weeks to verify if you have your transcripts in when you submit. You can print off transcript request forms and start mailing them in when the application opens up. Once they receive your transcript, they'll make a note of it on your application. If all your transcripts are in when you submit, and you submit the first day, you'll only be waiting a few days, at most, to be verified. Then you wait til the end of June when all the schools actually get your application.
