Im a canadian student, so I opened a US dollar account at Canada trust bank, and sent cheques to each school drawn from that account. Recently I got a letter from Columbia Unviersity saying it has to be from a US bank or a US money order. Is it like this for all schools? Does this mean none of my cheques will work?? How can I even open an account in a US bank while living in canada???
