Amino acid confusion

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Because dipole moments across bonds and molecules represent a spectrum of values, there can be some variability in classifying given groups as polar or non-polar since setting a cutoff for "polar" nature is somewhat arbitrary. Here are the classifications I used in my prep, sourced from TBR:

Charged: Aspartic acid Glutamic acid Histidine Arginine Lysine

Non-polar: Glycine Alanine Valine Isoleucine Leucine

Semi-polar: Phenylalanine Trytophan Methionine Proline

Polar (Hydrophilic): Glutamine Asparagine Tyrosine Threonine Serine Cysteine

Also, moving to Q&A.
