Hey guys,
Does anyone know how in depth we have to know amino acids.because i was taking kaplan tests and they never showed up but they just showed up on the Achiever. Has anyone who has taken it seen specific Amino acids and the structure show up?
Thanks

I don't think they expect you to memorize the structure of all 20 AA, but you should probably recognized them if presented with them. Probably a good idea to remember the acidic/basic ones also.

I remember at Kaplan they said you don't need to memorize the 20 amino acids structures. I'm sure you do need to know the generic structure.

Yup, I have them all memorized cuz of a biochem class... but i dont think its necessary for the DATs, cept the general structure, know what D and L amino acids mean, know how a peptide bond is formed, know that glycine is the only achiral amino acid, know under what conditions an amino acid is protonated and unprotonated... stuff like that... i picked up all this stuff from achiever and top score....

Good luck..
