what is essential for a substance to be amphiphillic # polar , non polar # polar , -vely charged

hey i read some 1 qn abt mand condyles.... am confused...
what i thought is that the mand condyles articulating surfaces are covered by periosteum and non art covered by fibrous connective tissue... right,,,, what say...

1. polar, non-polar
2. Art. surface of mand. condyle is covered by fibrous connective tissue. You are right, I had this confusion about periosteum as well but I think, w.r.t condyle, its definitely fibrous connective tissue.
