All else equal Engineering + Pre med is better than everything else
All else being equal, second, is the English major that took Calc III and molecular genetics etc.
Next is the BIO major that minored in philosophy etc.
Last is the BIO major.
I am on the interview trail and adcoms have brought up my philosophy background "why philosophy" etc. They say it's interesting... Trust me if I didn't have A's in all my upper level Pre reqs they wouldn't care less.
If two people are very similar a background in something different may break the tie because schools are looking for diversity in all areas. Obviously majoring in majoring in engineering with a background in Gundam development will not help you if your grades suck.
