I was reading the newspapers and as usual, it was getting me depressed.
I felt sad as I put myself in the shoes of college grads who after all those years of hard work (and hopefully partying their a5$ off) find themselves in a tough spot- mostly because of the faults of the generation(s) before them, specifically the baby-boomers (had to take that shot at them, and always will).
Anyway, I was wondering what can we do for them? What if, each one of us, as Attending Anesthesiologists all across the country, would offer one or two cases a day/week, or whatever is manageable, free of any charge from us?
And we could offer this to recent college graduates only (any legal issues here? Not sure).
I think this is the right thing to do, considering that most people that age, don't even present to the Operating Room. But nevertheless, what do you think?
Last but not least, this would be a great public outreach, that will also polish our image, which has definitely been shredded.
And this concept could extend beyond the Operating Room, and to the clinics as well.
What do you think? Any ideas? Suggestions?
This is not only a golden opportunity to show who we are as Physicians, but also, seems to be a responsibility.
Again, only to recent U.S. College graduates, unemployed and **** out of luck.
