Found this article today and couldn't help but giggle the line "Future doctors may find themselves standing in the unemployment line instead of at the bedside". Too many primary care physicians? Silly AMA.....

Time machines are cool.

From the magazine issue dated Feb 27, 1995

Visionaries see a future of telecommuting workers, interactive libraries and multimedia classrooms. They speak of electronic town meetings and virtual communities. Commerce and business will shift from offices and malls to networks and modems. And the freedom of digital networks will make government more democratic. Baloney. Do our computer pundits lack all common sense? The truth in no online database will replace your daily newspaper, no CD-ROM can take the place of a competent teacher and no computer network will change the way government works.

That's terrible. I like Heath and all but not as the Joker.
If this is true, the movie is ruined.

Why do you decapitalize my T?

I didn't! How odd. If the W or T in the quote here are decapitalized, I have no idea what's going on.
ETA: My "lollerskates" was all in caps, as well. That post is strange and confuses me. I don't like it!

Because you had "lollerskates" in all caps, it automatically de-capitalized all letters in the post (including the quote). It's a weird SDN anti-all-caps rule...

I kinda thought it might be something like that, but I had never seen it before (I don't think I have, anyway). Thanks for the tip!

"If students know this data and still want to go into medicine, they may not be as smart as we think they are," Dr. Schwarz said at news briefing sponsored by the AMA.

nice

The article is about 15 years old and was making the prediction that by 2000 the market would be saturated and doctors would fill the unemployment line.
