Hi everyone,

just wanted to swing by and introduce myself. I know you all are the tough love kind of folks but have helpful suggestions as well.

I'm older than the norm (26) and married with no kids.

I graduated with an associates almost 10 years ago (yes, yes, at 17) with a 2.5 gpa (not great), took some night classes with great grades, did some University work with a lot of W's (personal circumstances - both the hubs and I hospitalized at seperate times for what it's worth) and am back at it with a 3.8 in my new science classes, however, including the ones from my AA, brings it down to a 3.4.

I'm trying to get a feel for how to address these issues in an application and if the classes from so long ago are even relevant? (I know the pre-reqs expire after 5 years or so, does that mean other science classes like geology do as well?)

One other question: I took a 012 class as a refresher for math and missed the final. It gave me an FN. Since it's under the 101 mark, 1. will it go on my transcript and 2. will AMCAS count it against my science GPA?

Okay, have at it, I'm all ears. :luck:

All classes should be recorded in your application, regardless of when you took them and these will be backed up with transcripts from all the places that you attended. The good news is that the admissions committee do put less weight on grades received a long time ago.

In regards to how you should explain it, I would stay positive. No excuses about the withdrawals or FN. Focus on the things that you have accomplished (e.g. I assume you were working). See if you can't spin stuff in a positive light -- you mentioned hospitalization, maybe you could talk about how that influenced your decision to enter the medical field.
