i'm just about done with my application except for a single section that requires an explanation. i have an excellent gpa, a decent mcat and a substantial list of extracurriculars, but unfortunately, i have to answer "yes" to "have you ever been convicted of a serious misdemeanor?". neither of the two incidents are for violence, theft, or anything malicious. just driving related.
i feel this is going to affect my chances of gaining acceptance into any program. is there anyone out there that has had to mark "yes"?
if so, any input would be greatly appreciated. if not, i guess i'm threading new water.

Honestly the best and most true answer you will get is only from School Admission office on this topic. this is very sensitive topic and its solely based on the school. i would call the admission's office ASAP and ask them. Good luck!

unless it is a DUI, manslaughter w/ a car, or DWI I do not think you have to check yes. Speeding tickets should not count.

As long as you explain what ever it is and that you have made changes in your life so that this does not happen again, it should be fine. But I do not know what the offense was either.

If you look at law school applicants many of them have been arrested for something. It makes for good personal statements about how the law/lawyers helped them and made them want to be lawyers to help people as well.

 tats true.

Ask a lawyer if you are NOT going to check it. I like eveyone on these forums, but I wouldn't ask/trust them/their legal advice.
