This is tricky. The second part of the question is definitely true, since analogous structures result from convergent evolution. However, the first part says they "look similar" which I dont think has to be the case. Analogous structures have similar functions but they dont always have to look similar. Tricky.

I would say False, what does everyone else think...

analogous structures are basically due to convergent evolution, meaning 2 dissimilar species or from different origins share similar structures...

vs

Homologous structures that are divergent evolution, meaning same origin but different structures...

If you think about Divergent, 2 arrows leaving one point and convergent 2 arrows coming together at one point you will understand what iam talking about...

It's false as written. To be true, the word "look" should be exchanged to be the word "function". The two criteria are function and origin, not look and origin. Kaplan is correct.

Actually this is a True statement. Go to page 738 in the blue book and read Comparative Anatomy.

Definitely false. See my explanation above. The key word is "look". They do not have to look alike. They have to "function" alike. That's simply the definition of the term. Subtle but big distinction. I ran this past a bio professor. Keep arguing if you want, I have other things to learn.
