so i'm sitting here studying some good ol' perineum in gray's, flip a few pages, and then BAM! surface anatomy! and that got me thinking...

how does one go about becoming a model for anatomy atlases?

you think the pay is good? or is there more dignity in it? (compared to other forms of nude modeling.) from what i've been seeing, you don't necessarily have to be good looking, but there is one very muscular dude in the grant's atlas. you're still spreading your legs out for everyone to see, but it's not like it's porn, but it's the same, sort of, but i don't think people would get all excited to see anatomy models...

What about the guys/gals they hire to teach genital/rectal exams on themselves to a bunch of panicky med students?

Sometimes I wonder how people decide to go into THAT line of work, actually. I hope the pay is really good. 👍

The pay is extremely good. I hear $200 at leat for a day's work, and a day's work is pretty short.

Well, whoever runs our physical exam class advertises those positions on Craigslist.

That certainly spices things up a bit.

Don't you have to be dead to model for anatomy? And preserved? Seems like that would cut into the enjoyment of the proceeds.

The women they use for our sessions (they tend to use the same ones) are all pretty "earthy", nature is beautiful and my vagina is a lovely flower, type people who get about $150 a session to let 4 med students do a vaginal exam (no rectal). The rumor (unconfirmed but seems logical) was that the men were all gay. I also think they only got $50 per session (shorter session) of 4 students. I am not sure how much the male genital exam guys got, but it was a much larger group.

In my experience, a lot of the male models also seem to be older, good-natured sea-captain-type fellas who really believe in the value of the rectal exam. 👍
