netter's is good... its got a lot of schemas on it to help you study for tests.

just DO NOT get Grants... it sucks.

There are only 3 books anyone needs to ACE Gross Anatomy. They are:

Netter (which is an Atlas, NOT a review book)
Moore's Clinical Anatomy
BRS Anatomy by Chung

With those three books (esp., Chung), you should be able to ace your anatomy class. I am talking from experience. I got people in my class through, as well as last year's first years through anatomy with flying colors.

I agree with above: Netter's, Chung, and Moore. I only studied Moore when I needed clarification from Chung. I'm also a bit biased, as Dr. Chung was my anatomy prof. Hilariously funny man...he gave the best lectures!

our required text is Moore, but there was a warning for us NOT to use Chung. our prof said there were numerous errors in the book and we should NOT buy it to use for class or supplemental study. any ideas on this since you guys reccommend it? is it personal or are there errors?
thanks,

Although I don't know about errors, I didn't find Chung that useful. However that is probably because our course notes had everything needed. Moore was good for clinical correlations (the infamous blue boxes) and for further clarification. Perhaps I'll use Chung for USMLE study.

There were very few errors that I could find. If or when I ever did, it was pretty easy to cross out or add to it. I could pretty much use just Chung to do or answer almost anything I needed to know. Before every practical and written we would all pull out the Chungs and walk around the lab. It was wonderful. A very concise and yet detailed book. Your prof probably just doesnt want you saving time or something... I don't know. I tutored the class below me, and everyone did great using Chung. Also, Chung is WAY TOO DETAILED to even think about using for Step 1. It really is excellent for the class itself, but it has sooooo much info, that it would be crazy to try to fit it in for boards. I used High Yield Anatomy for boards, and even that was a bit of an overkill - it was a good 2 day read tho.

Take Care

I agree with flindophile - Whitaker's Instant Anatomy is a great book. I found it particularly useful for learning nerves, arteries and veins and their relationship to other structures.

I have been out of the gross anatomy scene for a while (but now will be back in Rads...). However, doesn't Moore's text have alot of the images from Grant's atlas? So I would not recommend getting Moore and Grant's -- Moore and Netter was the combo I used, though I will probably buy Grant's at some point just because it is so famous.

Also, seriously look at Rohen's color atlas if your school has old school anatomy bellringers with lots of wet dissections.

I used two books:

1) Snell's Clinical Anatomy for Medical Students
2) Netter

I did really well in anatomy, and I found both these to be great resources.

Good luck!!
